Abstract
Weapons of moss destruction: Previously unknown lipoxygenase biosynthetic pathways in the moss Physcomitrella patens transform arachidonic acid into metabolites typical of animals, plants, algae, and mushrooms when the moss is damaged (see scheme). In this way metabolic themes from all these organisms are combined uniquely.
