Abstract
Water based coatings usually rely on multiphase formulations and appropriate film formation. Recent technologies resolved the previous inherent limitation to radical polymerization of weakly water soluble monomers and allowed extension to polycondensations and polyadditions. This is accompanied by appropriate stabilizing systems which "forget" their hydrophilic character in a film.
