Abstract
Overall rate constants for complex formation of Na+ and Ca2+ with antamanide and of Na+ with perhydro-antamanide were determined by using the temperature-jump relaxation technique. Measurements were carried out in methanol or acetonitrile as solvents. Murexide was used as Na+-indicator. The reaction enthalpy of the Na+-antamanide system was determined from relaxation amplitudes. Values of the rate constants are considerably lower than those for similar macrocyclic complex-forming compounds.
