Abstract
The Cover illustrates the challenges of possible future structures of chemical industries. The digitalization of industry, also known under the slogan “Industry 4.0”, covers not only the manufacture of goods but also the process industry and thus chemistry. Under aspects of systemic rather than local efficiency, novel forms of decentralized chemical production may be realized. Advanced catalysis science today can help to meet the challenges of possible future structures of chemical industries. More information can be found in the Concept by R. Schlögl et al. on page 533 in Issue 4, 2017 (DOI: 10.1002/cctc.201700026).
