Abstract
Protonation and metallation equilibrium constants of two amphiphilic porphyrins in different lipid matrices have been determined at the air-water interface by means of reflection spectroscopy. Evidence for a dissociation mechanism of porphyrin metal complex formation is obtained from shifts of the protonation pKa and metallation pKc values upon variation of matrixand porphyrin.
