Zusammenfassung
The large meloid genus Hycleus includes 420 species and, together with the genus Mylabris (164 species), is a member of the tribe Mylabrini within the blister beetle subfamily Meloini (Bologna, 1991). The 420 described species are found from Eurasia to Africa. Male and female adult specimens of Hycleus lunata were caught in the vicinity of Cape Town/South Africa. After their live transport to the laboratory in Bayreuth, they were frozen.
