Abstract
In a domino hydroxylation-oxidation-Diels-Alder reaction sequence which is initiated by the enzyme tyrosinase simple phenols ate converted in high yield into highly functionalized bicyclic 1,2-diketones. This example demonstrates that enzymatic transformations can successfully be combined with nonenzymatic reactions in domino reaction sequences. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
