Zusammenfassung
The metastable triplet state of C60 molecules in frozen toluene solution was investigated by pulsed EPR after laser flash excitation. The non-icosahedral symmetry of the wavefunction shows up in the triplet finestructure parameters |D|, |E| >0 [1]. 13C hyperfine interaction in isotopically enriched material was measured by one- and two-dimensional ESEEM experiments. The observed modulation patterns are best represented by a model calculation assuming a spin density maximum near the equatorial plane of the molecule with respect to the D5d symmetry axis. As a consequence the D parameter must be positive.
