Abstract
Tiopronin (2-mercaptopropionylglycine, TP) is a thiol compound, which has been used as a hepatoprotective and anti-cataract agent. It also modifies rheumatoid arthritis and has been applied in the treatment of cystinuria. In this study, a sensitive and reproducible HPLC-MS method has been developed for the analysis of tiopronin in human plasma. Pre-column derivatization with 2, 4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNCB), the blood plasma was de-proteinized and purified by liquid-liquid extraction. This assay method was successively applied to a pharmacokinetics study.
