Abstract
Lagrangian models, which track the movement of fluid particles in their moving frame of reference, are being used increasingly by scientists to track pollution plumes and locate pollution sources, including the spread of volcanic ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano and the dispersion of radioactive material from Japan's Fukushima I nuclear power plant.
