Abstract
Contrary to the methods previously described, treatment with zinc/- silver-graphite or potassium-graphite laminate (CsK) of the di-0- isopropylidene derivatives of 1-deoxy-l-halo-[beta]-D-fructopyranose, 1-deoxy- 1-halo-[alpha]-L-sorbofuranose, 6-deoxy-6-iodo-[alpha]-D-galactopyranose, and 3- deoxy-3-iodo-[alpha]-D-glucofuranose resulted in the high yield formation of the respective unsaturated sugar derivatives by fragmentation with loss of one of the acetal groups.
