Abstract
Phlugis teres is an orthopteroid predator of the familiy Tettigoniidae, subfamily Litroscelinae, which has its life cycle on aquatic macrophytes where a wide variety of prey occurs. In order to determine the stages of nymphs that ingest their exuvia, measurements were taken of the lengths body and head, widths of pronotum and head, as well as biomass (daily fresh weight). The results obtained show 5 nymphal stages in P. teres. The development to the adult stage takes 55.3±3.67 days on average in males and 58.6±5.86 days in females. Sexual differentiation occurs at the fifth nymphal stage with females showing a greater size and weight in comparison to males, which is observed in adults, too.
