Abstract
On July 10th, 1671 Friderich Martens shot an Ivory Gull, Pagophila eburnea Phipps, near Langgrunnodden (Nordaustlandet, Spitsbergen) on 80°43' N 17°40' E. This was very near the place, where Malmgren found the first colony of this species in Spitsbergen on July 7th, 1861.
