Abstract
Bathynella stammeri Jakobi, 1954, lives in rhithrostygal interstitial biotopes of the Austrian "Ötztaler Alpen". A description of this species is given for a systematical revision of the genus Bathynella which is in preparation. Morphological, ecological and zoogeographical problems of the species are discussed; the history of the geographical distribution of Bathynella stammeri is explained in relation to that of several species inhabiting the same typical biocoenosis (Parastenocaris-Bathynella-biocoenosis).
