Abstract
The species of Neoperla occurring in India, south of the Ganges River, viz. N. moesta Banks, N. venosa Kimmins, N. nitida Kimmins, N. schmidiana , sp. nov., N. ochracea , sp. nov., and N. obscura , sp. nov. are described. N. asperipenis Zwick is recorded for the first time from South India. N. tristis Navas is synonymized with Chinoperla nigriceps (Banks): N. maindroni Navas is misplaced and in fact belongs to Phanoperla . A key to the South Indian genera of Neoperlini and to the species of Neoperla is provided.
