Abstract

Four species of Psychodidae (Psychoda minuta Banks, P. parthenogenetica Tonnoir, P. aff. trinodulosa Tonnoir, Tinearia lativentris [Berden]) and 4 spp. of aquatic Empididae (Wiedemannia fallaciosa [Loew], W. lota Haliday, W. syriaca sp. nov., Clinocera stagnalis [Haliday]) were collected in the system of the Ornotes river (Lebanon and Syria). W. syriaca is described and compared with the possibly related W. oredonensis Vaillant.
