Abstract
Extensive collections of the mayflies of the river Fulda yielded some remarkable results: Three species, viz. Baetis vardarensis, Ecdyonurus affinis, and Ecdynourus starmachi, are recorded in the Federal Republic of Germany for the first time. For safer distinction of Baetis vardarensis from its nearest relative Baetis lutheri, two new characters, i. e., the colour of the gills and the length of the terminal filament are described. Oligoneuriella rhenana and Ephoron virgo, two species which once were very abundant in streams in Central Europe, but nearly disappeared during the last 40 years, have again been found in the river Fulda. Last not least some additional species found in the river Fulda are listed, which are rarely recorded in Germany.
