Abstract
Two new species of dance flies (Diptera, Empididae, Hemerodromiinae), Chelifera polonica and Chelifera macedonica, are described and figured. Both are members of the C. flavella species group with yellow thorax, unstriped mesonotum and without a stigma. They are close relatives of C. astigma COLLIN. Species are readily distinguished from one another by the shape of the cerci and of the hypandrium.
