Abstract

Nucleophilic addition of fluoride ions at the carbonyl carbon atom in (CF₃)₃BCO in liquid sulfur dioxide leads to the formation of the boron acyl fluoride ion [(CF₃)₃BC(O)F]⁻ (see structural formula), the first example of a compound with a BC(O)F group and an anionic acyl fluoride.
