Abstract
The distribution of Gammarus in the water shed of the upper Fulda indicates damages predominantly in the lower parts of the drainage basin. These are mainly caused by water pollution, and additionally there are local effects of anthropogenic acidity, especially in sandstone-areas. Running waters of the Rhön were proved to be in a better condition than those of the Vogelsberg and the Kaufunger Wald.
