 Abstract: UM(2)Al(3) (M = Pd, Ni) have been studied by means of neutron diffraction experiments on polycrystalline samples. The crystallographic PrNi2Al3-type structure has been confirmed, while enormous large preferred orientation effects have been revealed. Concerning the magnetic structures, special emphasis is given to the evolution of a second incommensurate magnetic phase in UPd2Al3.
