Abstract:
The normal-state rho(ab) and rho(c) are measured in Bi2Sr1.95La0.05CuOy
(T-c similar or equal to 13 K) by suppressing superconductivity with
61-T pulsed magnetic fields. In the sample with smallest rho(ab) (74 mu
Omega cm at 0.66 K), metallic rho(ab) is found to coexist with
''semiconducting'' rho(c) down to our lowest temperature. In samples
with larger residual rho(ab), the in-plane conduction becomes insulating
at low temperatures even when rho(ab)(T) shows linear-T behavior above
T-c.
