Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is now successfully established in nonhuman primates [1]. Due to its availability, fMRI is likely to complement or replace invasive physiological techniques in the near future. However. development of novel hard- and software is critical to maximize its usefulness in novel research applications. In this contribution, we report on the design and use of custom-tailored radio frequency coils for increased signal to noise in (t')images of the monkey brain.
