Zusammenfassung: Toronto—Localization and priming studies have revealed that changes that do not reach awareness can nevertheless influence behavior. Mitroff, Franconeri, and Simons (in press) have recently challenged this claim, arguing instead that explicit observer strategies may account for previous findings. Here, we present new evidence showing that this is not the case. We also discuss new behavioral, neuroimaging, and eye movement studies that further support the notion of implicit change detection.
