Abstract: Several sequences for continuous arterial spin labelling have been proposed to overcome the technical and conceptual difficulties of this technique. Four different schemes for performing tag and control scans have been simulated for parameter optimization and implemented on a 3 T scanner. All sequences produced excellent perfusion images and were clearly superior to pulsed arterial spin labelling. Both simulations and experiments showed minor differences in SNR between the four techniques.
