Zusammenfassung: Attentional modulation and cross-modal integration might partly rely on the same neurophysiological mechanisms. As a new study by Lakatos et al. in this issue of Neuron shows, attended stimuli in one sensory modality not only modulate oscillatory activity within the primary cortex of the same modality but also reset the phase of ongoing oscillations in primary cortices of other modalities.
