Abstract: Single voxel 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) provides information about biochemical processes of neuronal tissue which is complementary to conventional MRI examinations and is therefore a promising tool for investigation of various spinal cord pathologies. In this work, a protocol for spinal cord MRS allowing robust and high quality spinal cord acquisitions was developed. The results show specific changes in the metabolite fingerprint of tumor patients compared to controls and patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.
