Abstract: Water content, or proton density (PD) and tissue sodium concentration (TSC) are tightly regulated in the human brain. A large number of diseases can be diagnosed and monitored observing these quantities. MRI protocols were set up to assess T1, T2*, PD and TSC quantitatively in vivo, and data from four healthy volunteers were acquired. Data were co-registered to the MNI brain and mean values for WM and GM structures were determined. Very good anatomical correspondence is achieved, despite combination of different imaging sequences.
