Abstract: Gaze control is largely determined by an observer's behavioral goals. In this respect, eye movements are one of many coordinated actions to achieve these goals. In this presentation I will discuss experiments which studied the properties of saccadic and pursuit eye movements in concerted behaviors, for example in steering a vehicle. In this respect, I will consider an aspect of gaze control which has largely been neglected by previous research: the consequence of eye movements for visual perception and the associated behavioral consequence in terms of the value of the obtained additional information
