Abstract: The classical SMB-process including its ModiCon-variant is considered. The mathematical model corresponds to a set of coupled nonlinear partial differential equations completed by initial and boundary conditions. In order to predict the quality of the separation process accurately and efficiently discretization schemes are needed. We propose a new cascadic multilevel method for the fast calculation of the cyclic steady state offering high accuracy combined with good mass conservation. The proposed cascadic multilevel approach can be also applied to other discretization methods.
