Zusammenfassung: In the tropical regions palms are considered key species. In annually flooded wetlands of the Pantanal, Bactris glaucescens is particularly important for the fish food web and for its grouped or isolated distribution in the overall area. This study was undertaken with population islands to vary the influence of the flood pulse on the fruit production and on the distribution of islands and individual in a levee. A onehectare area was delimitated and divided into 4 parcels of 25x100 m where islands were identified. Within each island the individuals were numbered in order to monitor the fructification phenophase. A total of 24 islands were registered counting 880 individual of which 123 beard fruits within 13 islands in 3 asynchronous periods. The fructification was thus distributed through time: the largest fruit production occurred during the flood, 160 (58%), from individuals of islands 4(5); 5 (6); 6 (16); 8 (30); 14 (30); 17 (5); 18 (12); 21 (5). Then during the receding waters 75 25%) fruits from individuals of the islands 3 (1); 4 (3); 6 (3); 14 (2); 15 (1); 18 (20); 19 (30); 21 (4); 23 (12); 24 (4). The smallest production was registered during the dry season (low waters) with 63 (17%) from the islands 3 (1); 4 (4); 5 (3); 6 (3); 14 (2); 15 (1); 18 (4); 19 (2); 20 (3); 21 (1); 22 (1); 23 (2); 24 (3). The fruit production appears to be related to seasonality as its occurs in islands located near the river and canal during these cycles.
