 Zusammenfassung: The distribution of the genus Gammarus in the drainage basin of the River Eder and the southern (Hessian) tributaries of the River Diemel indicates damages predominantly in the highest and lowest parts of that region. On higher levels Gammarus is lacking in obviously souring brooks of poorly buffered landscapes. Especially this type of damage can be found in the headwaters of the Eder in the Rothaar-Hills. In the lower parts of the region Gammarus populations were devasted by river pollution. On the whole the situation of the genus Gammarus in the water-sheds of Eder and Diemel is as bad as in the drainage basin of the lower River Fulda.
