Abstract:
Trichomyia wirthi QUATE, Psychoda elegans KINCAID, Psychoda rarotongensis SATCHELL, Tinearia alternicula (QUATE), Philosepedon helicis (DYAR), Clogmia albipunctata (WILLISTON), Australopericoma caudata (SATCHELL), Neoarisemus spec., and Telmatoscopus spec., have been collected on some Florida Keys islands (U.S.A.). Most are either widespread euryecious taxa, or their closest relatives occur in the Caribbean, in Central America, or in South Africa. Furthermore, a new species Alepia symmetrica spec. nov., and its putative larva are described from Vaca Key; the larva was found in a bromeliad. Because larvae may have been imported within the plants from somewhere in the tropics the question remains whether it is a native species.
Trichomyia wirthi QUATE, Psychoda elegans KINCAID, Psychoda rarotongensis SATCHELL, Tinearia alternicula (QUATE), Philosepedon helicis (DYAR), Clogmia albipunctata (WILLISTON), Australopericoma caudata (SATCHELL), Neoarisemus spec., und Telmatoscopus spec., wurden auf eingigen Inseln der Florida Keys (USA) gesammelt. Dabei handelte es sich meist um weit verbreitete und euryöke Taxa oder um Arten, deren nächste Verwandte in der Karibik, in Mittel- oder in Süd-Amerika leben. Daneben wurde mit Alepia symmetrica spec. nov. eine neue Art auf der Vaca Key Insel gefunden. Beide Geschlechter und die wahrscheinliche Larve dieser Art, die in einer Bromelie gesammelt wurde, werden beschrieben. Es bleibt unsicher, ob die Art in Florida einheimisch ist, da aus den Tropen importierte Bromelien dort gerne als Zierpflanzen gehalten werden.
