Abstract: Thumbnail image of graphical abstract Into the layer: Layered carbon–iron oxide nano-composites catalysts are very active in catalytic oxidation reactions. The size and structure of the iron oxide nanoparticles (blue in the TEM image) embedded in the layered carbon can be controlled very simply by changing the temperature of the synthesis reaction.
