Abstract
In recent years, victimological topics and in particular empirical research on the interests of the victim have received increasing attention in many countries. In various jurisdictions statutory provisions for the protection and compensation of victims of crime have either been established or existing legislation has been extended.
In view of the VIIth International Symposium on Victimology in Rio de Janeiro in August 1991, about 100 papers on victimological research from all over the world have been collected and are published in three volumes.
Volume 50 gives an overall view of victimological research, relating in particular to European countries. Articles in relation to victim surveys are presented in an additional chapter.
