Abstract: The magnetic and related properties of the tetragonal, ThMn12-type UNi10Si2 and UNi8Cu2Si2 intermetallics were examined over a broad temperature range. The reciprocal magnetic susceptibility follows the Cure-Weiss law over a limited temperature range indicating most probably a strong influence of the crystal field interactions. Electrical resistivity exhibits a weak temperature dependence with ρ(RT)/ρ(4.2 K) ratios fairly close to one for both compounds. The specific heat of UNi10Si2 does not reveal any anomalies between 0.3 and 9.0 K. Instead, an enhanced γ value of γ = 100 mJ K−2 mole was observed at low temperatures.
