Abstract: A uniform approach to nonlinear model reduction for nonreactive as well as reactive distillation processes with fast reversible chemical reactions in the liquid phase is presented. The approach is based on spatio-temporal pattern formation phenomena in distillation processes also termed as nonlinear wave propagation. Focus is on ideal and moderately nonideal mixtures.
