Abstract: Morphological variations in mucro and antennule characters of subfossil remains of Bosmina (Eubosmina) were analysed in a short sediment core from the Obersee of Lake Constance. The data reflect the invasion of Bosmina l. kessleri in the early 1940s and hybridization with B. longispina which so far occurred alone. The succession from B. longispina to B. l. kessleri is attributed to eutrophication observed in the Obersee during that period of time. A similar succession occurred in the eutrophic Untersee several hundred years ago.
